When Waring father passed away, he wrote ‘My Father Lives’ to honor him and aid in the healing process. The song captures a conversation between the singer and his son about a special, golden ring he received from his father. His family has handed down the ring from father to son for many generations.
How his grandfather left it to his father is described in the song. Additionally, how the singer’s father changed a great deal of lives during his thirty years as a firefighter. He made an impact and left a legacy. His legacy continues through music, and his soul is with Jesus in Heaven. Waring misses his father, but knowing he will see him again lessens the pain.
The day after his father passed away, Waring wrote this song. It was a blessing from the Lord to make the pain easier to bear. Particularly in light of how quickly everything came together.
