With Watching The World Go By, Jernej Zoran delivers a quietly confident milestone in an already prolific career. Released on November 28, 2025, the record is his seventh studio album and, notably, his first written entirely in English, marking a natural widening of perspective rather than a reinvention. Known across Slovenia and beyond as a blues-rock guitarist of serious pedigree, Zoran leans here into songwriting, mood, and reflection, crafting an unhurried album. Recorded through online collaboration with musicians spread across Slovenia, Croatia, the United States, Ukraine, Italy, and South Africa, the project carries a subtle global warmth, proof that distance doesn’t dilute soul.
Things kick off with “Take Off Your Mask,” an instantly welcoming opener built on shimmering, chiming guitars and steady, thumping drums. Zoran’s husky, grainy voice arrives relaxed and encouraging, urging honesty and resilience. Like sunlight through a car window, it gently nudges you forward, especially when he lands the line, “Life is for those who get to dream.” From there, the album settles into its central philosophy: slow down, pay attention, breathe.
The title track, “Watching the World Go By,” sits comfortably at the heart of the record. Strummed guitars roll by with an easy, almost fireside intimacy, while Zoran sings with contentment rather than longing. He sings of laying under a blankets of stars with his loved one, and shares gratitude, unforced, like thoughts spoken out loud after midnight, and that understated sincerity is where the song really lands.
Later, “Angels with Broken Wings” brings a more emotional climb. It opens gently, with slow, shimmering guitar strokes, before the arrangement swells and Zoran’s voice rises with it, reaching for something bruised but hopeful. When he admits, “Yes, I am broken too, yes I am just like you,” the song shifts from personal confession to shared understanding.
All told, Watching The World Go By is reflective, melodic, and quietly human, that rewards patience and reminds you there’s strength in simply standing still long enough to look around.
