British-born musician and composer Peter Dulborough returns with William. Released on December 5, 2025, this EP comes as a letter set to music. Rooted in piano-led songwriting and rich with folk, art rock, classical, and trumpet-led textures, the EP draws deeply from family history, memory, and a longing for peace in turbulent times.
Inspired by Dulboroughโs paternal grandfather William, who survived the Battle of Ypres after enlisting with the Royal West Kents in 1915, the release gently bridges past and present, turning inherited stories into something tender and resonant.
That sense of lineage runs through the EP, not just in theme but in spirit. The name William, shared across three generations in Dulboroughโs family, becomes a symbol of protection and emotional continuity. And fittingly, the music listens, reflects, and reassures. Recorded live in a single focused day at Sonoria Studio in Prato with the band from his Touch concert in Florence, the performances retain a raw intimacy, helped by minimal takes and a room that lets instruments breathe.
The EP opens with โThe Dream,โ which unfurls slowly with fragile, flickering piano notes before low, somber horns slide underneath. As the piano grows more animated and conversational, soft drums begin to pulse, lifting the mood without breaking the spell. It all drifts to a close on a mesmerizing horn coda that feels like an exhale. The title track โWilliamโ follows with emotional weight, anchored by warm piano lines and expressive guitar work that honours its namesake.
On โFrom Afar,โ featuring Martina Magionami, acoustic guitar strums set a gentle pace as her tender vocal floats in, singing, โDo you hear a music moving on the breeze till it grabs you and doesnโt let you free?โ The arrangement gradually swells with drums, horns, and soft piano, celebrating music itself as a sustaining force. Closing track โStefano โ a conversationโ serves as a heartfelt tribute to the late engineer Stefano Lugli, capturing the feeling of an intimate dialogue that continues beyond words.
With William, Peter Dulborough offers a reflective, humane EP that rewards listeners who lean in and stay awhile, with the blessing of communal joy.
