With the start of August, right on its prime, Ottawa, Canada-based Indie pop band Wotts has released their latest single, โWilson.โ It is a vibrant and infectious indie-pop track that showcases the duoโs talent for crafting catchy and memorable music. If you are into nostalgic and psych-pop musicians like Tame Impala and Brothertiger, you will love this sizzling piece.
The single first features the previous post-punk single, โLaundry,โ which opens with bassist/guitarist Ricky 100โs melodic guitar chiming and shimmering over an engaging backbeat. The high, hazy voice of vocalist/ multi-instrumentalist Jayem pairs well with the driving fuzz as he sings relaxingly over the uplifting shimmering music, and balances the energy with a coolness. His performance gives the aura of being blinded after looking up at the shimmering sun gleaming directly on your eye as you stand on a beach.
The production of the title track โWilsonโ is more dynamic and exhilarating. The track, veering towards pop opens zooming with the guitars driving ahead like a sunbeam over the thumping beats and sparkling cymbals. The driving rhythm, infectious melody, and shimmering guitar work create a captivating and energetic soundscape. The song turns anthemic as the rhythm section bounds up with sizzling sparkling edges. The singer sings in his usual reverbed haziness, somehow getting us wrapped up in his words.
Stay in the loop with the duo because they have the EP Good People, Bad People hoisting on the horizon.
