Celestial Wizard’s latest album, “Winds Of The Cosmos,” unleashes a breathtaking amalgamation of power metal and death metal, deftly woven into a riveting 44-minute journey across nine stunning tracks.
From the very outset, the album exudes an electrifying energy. The combination of aggressive vocals, courtesy of Amethyst Noir, meld perfectly with the thrashy guitar work, executed to a tee by the talented Guillermo Jurado. The drums, skillfully manned by Tim Gillman, lay down a solid foundation that underpins the entire album, providing a powerful framework for the music to shine.
The beauty of “Winds Of The Cosmos” lies not only in its headbanging intensity but also in the imaginative storytelling conveyed through its lyrics. Each track takes the audience on a thrilling journey, exploring fantasy and sci-fi themes ranging from frosty Dungeons and Dragons adventures to the mysteries of space and black holes. By stripping away excess synths and strings, the band aimed to let the music speak for itself, and they have been successful in doing so.
“Winds Of The Cosmos” is a triumph of creativity and sheer talent. Celestial Wizard has undoubtedly proven that death metal can dance hand-in-hand with power metal. They abandoned the concept album style for a series of stand-alone bangers on this record, and it has paid off big time. They’ve set the bar high with this one, and it’s safe to assume they’ve got plenty more tricks up their sleeves.
