If you have never considered dance tracks or DJ mixes before ‘cause they are simply not your type, British producer Flatfoot Sam’s EP “Zeitgeist” might make you want to reconsider.
From “Come” to “Boathouse,” the EP explores a myriad of synths, EDM beats, percussion, drumming patterns, bass tones, and lines. “Come” is a befitting introductory track, being diverse with its music following every mood in the album within its 5-minute runtime, somehow representing the whole album in its all-encompassing nature. It also contrasts with Ascend, the more dreary and melancholic song of the album, in a most soulful way.
The short-lived yet incredibly impactful vocal symphonies of the Zeitgeist EP will hypnotize you like a siren. They are like the milestones reached on the paths you successfully traveled with the music.
If you are into a dance beat, Helch will surprise you with a funky beat amiss in other songs, as they rely more on crafting a heavy ambiance. “Helch” is perhaps the most experimental track on the EP, due to its use of dissonant sounds and irregular rhythm.
And onto the showstopper track, “Boathouse,” the James Bond of the EP, has a cinematic and suspenseful feel that feels like it belongs in a thriller.
With five tracks sonically remanufacturing the TripField vibe, each unique yet packed congruently as one, the “Zeitgeist” EP by Flatfoot Sam packs a punch and leaves a lasting impression on the listener as they are taken on a vivacious vocal voyage never thought of before.
