3 Feet From A Vein (Seraphim Mix) by Stuart Pearson: Review
On today’s rare find, I’m going to press you into giving 3 Feet from A Vein (Seldom Seen Slim) a listen because it’s possibly the most underrated song!
Stuart Pearson, the main vocalist with a deep, calming performance who’s also a songwriter, sounds almost like Marko Saaresto from Poets of the Fall – you know, the ones who set the world ablaze with their Carnival of Rust? Pearson prides himself for writing dark horrors and country gothic music. He mixes Feet from A Vein with perfect psychedelic traits, and a story about the life of Slim, who stayed back in a ghost town to work in the mines until the day he dies. The lyrics that took me the most, almost as if the last wishes of a dying man waiting to meet his Maker –
“If dreams came true, it would rain mescal
And this ghost town would come alive
And they’d name that mountain after me
Singing songs about the day I died“
It’s like the calm before and buildup of the climax in an apocalyptic scene from a movie or show that has its fans biting on their nails and goosebumps down their thighs. I wouldn’t say the artist is slept on, because the world did justice to his most listened album “Mojave” which explores his historic roots and psychological thriller with wildly disturbing perspectives. Pearson had epilepsy as a youngster, and music was his release. He drew inspiration from a wide range between fold to proto-punk.
