Jenni Dale Lord’s A Million Moments captures life’s most intimate experiences, from love and loss to family bonds and personal growth. Influenced by the passing of JDL’s grandmother during its creation, the album carries a nurturing love that runs in the artist’s veins and in the heart of each track.
“Dinner and a Heartbreak” opens A Million Moments with a warm, comforting country tune. It has soothing guitar riffs and an engaging narrative. Lord’s thick, velvety voice tells a story of heartbreak, delivered with much emotion and warmth.
With gnarling twangy guitars and a raucous energy tapped by the hard-hitting sharp drum beats, “I’d Like to Have a Boyfriend” brings a playful, cheeky vibe. Lord’s smug, catchy vocal delivery makes it a fun, lighthearted track.
“If Leaving You Were Easy” has warm organ trails floating above, while the percussion jingles below and the guitar plays soothingly to create a relaxing, melancholic soundscape as Lord sings with palpable pain about the struggle of staying in a relationship with someone unfaithful.
“Story of Your Life” is the highlight of the album. It’s a soft, tender tribute to Lord’s grandmother in which Lord reflects on her grandmother’s passing and the impact it had on herself and her mother.
The title track serves as the emotional centerpiece of the album. With sparkling piano and guitar melodies, Lord sings about significant moments in her life like her father’s death and her brother starting a family and gives us a glimpse into her most personal memories. This song shows us that life is defined by these millions of moments that shape who we are.
