With her debut EP AIR, London-based singer-songwriter SHARAI turns the tangled emotions of love, heartbreak, and rediscovering self-worth into a soulful collection that feels both intimate and empowering. Released on October 9, 2026, the seven-track record introduces an artist who moves gracefully between folk-inspired storytelling and smooth R&B, pairing vulnerable songwriting with a voice capable of soaring when the feelings become too big to contain.
The title track sets the tone with gentle acoustic guitar strumming, immersive instrumentation, and deep bass that gives the arrangement a warm, grounded presence. SHARAI’s husky voice carries a sonorous richness, rising into expressive heights without losing the song’s tender, reflective character. It allows the feeling behind her words to take centre stage. It’s an inviting introduction to her world, where softness never comes at the expense of strength.
That strength becomes more apparent on “Ain’t My Fault,” where SHARAI refuses to shoulder the blame for a relationship that fails to meet her needs. Her message is refreshingly direct: if a man cannot offer what she deserves, that’s his problem to sort out. Rather than dressing disappointment in romantic illusions, she approaches it with a firm sense of self-respect. “Get Back,” meanwhile, digs deeper into the emotional aftermath of a damaging relationship. Its repeated longing to return to the person she was before captures the exhausting experience of loving someone who leaves you feeling inadequate. Yet beneath the hurt lies a turning point, as SHARAI begins to recognise that better love is possible.
Elsewhere, “Believer” brings together jazz textures, smooth R&B, and timeless soul, highlighting the versatility that runs throughout the EP. With influences that recall the storytelling honesty of Tracy Chapman and the soulful sensibilities of Emeli Sandé, SHARAI makes personal experiences feel strikingly relatable. AIR is a promising first statement from an artist who understands that vulnerability can be its own kind of power.
