Polemica’s latest offering, “…and now…,” is a riveting 10-track odyssey that delves headfirst into the ever-contrasting realms of hope and despair. This album is an unapologetic question mark, challenging societal norms and wrestling with questions of identity, all underscored by an unwaveringly independent spirit. It blends genre-bending elements like Punk, Funk, Noise, Rock, and Experimental music. This musical tapestry embarks on a journey that will keep you both musically entertained and intellectually engaged.
Launching the album is “Paranoia,” a track that immediately thrusts you into a world of unease. The haunting and repetitive chant of “paranoia” begins the song. The pulsating drumbeats alongside an eerie and unsettling atmosphere set an arresting overture to the thematic exploration.
“Roe v Wade (Hey! Don’t Touch That),” the fourth track, injects more of the dose of funky exuberance into the mix above an insistent drumbeat. The song’s message begins as a direct and assertive warning, “Hey! Don’t touch that. It’s not yours. Put that back.” Yet, it swiftly metamorphoses into a vehement and emphatic poetic recital. The bridge of the song ignites with jamming guitars and pounding drums while spirited and funky vocals take center stage.
“Isolation,” track number seven, kicks off with an irresistibly groovy melody. As the album draws to an enigmatic close, “Tranny Me” steps in with introspective piano melodies. A tender and passionate voice takes the spotlight, singing softly and melodically. The voice soars to ethereal heights, infusing the music with raw emotional depth and vulnerability.
“…and now…” is an audacious statement. Listen to “…and now…” by Polemica in the world of independent music.
