Architect of Truth, aka Northern New Mexico-based Egyptian composer Robert K. Beshara, has released his experimental, ambient, and avant-garde self-titled album that takes listeners on an introspective journey through the relatable sufferings of midlife, grappling with the physical limitations of the body and the expansive, seemingly boundless nature of the mind.
“Ancient Soul in a Modern Context” sets the album’s tone with a sparkling, firecracker energy that transitions into a gritty, dreamy soundscape. The song feels like an adventure through time, merging the ancient with the modern, evoking images of discovery and imagination.
“Architect of Truth” is a powerful and electrifying composition. It opens with zooming synths and hard beats that quickly evolve into sharp electronic textures. Midway through, distant vocalizations add a grounding, stabilizing effect before fading, allowing the playful and experimental electronic effects to take center stage. This track captures the essence of the album’s core themes—truth, perception, and the fluidity of experience.
On the other hand, “The Return of Social Climbers” is heavier and more brooding, as if sparking the tensions of societal warfare with the mind, with pulsating beats and fuzzy, grinding guitars. Rhythmic drums drive the song, which builds in intensity as it sharpens and becomes more vibrant.
Clocking in at under two minutes, “Whiplash” is a whirlwind of dark, grungy guitar riffs and shimmering lushness. The rapid buildup of rhythms leaves the listener on edge, building on the unresolved tension that stops creativity from taking flight.
Architect of Truth speaks for Robert K. Beshara’s identity and life as it confronts the listener with the body that cages our passions and pursuits. Check it out on Bandcamp.
