Kat Kikta drops a whole visitation. “Are You Worthy?” is a message beamed in from somewhere between a Victorian séance and a 1950s sci-fi landing site. Kat steps out of the metaphorical flying saucer, cloak of avant-pop and sound art around her shoulders, to ask the one question we spend most of our lives dodging: do you actually believe you’re precious, and are you guarding your spirit like it matters? As a multi-dimensional artist who blends healing instruments, field recordings, and cinematic instincts, she turns that question into a strange, shimmering little world.
The track opens in a hush, with eerie air, breathy whispering, and the sense that something—or someone—is perched in the dark branches, watching and praying over you. Slowly, the atmospherics widen into an expansive, mystical field, fog rolling back to reveal Kat’s delicate, grainy high voice. She sings slowly and meditatively, each line trailing like incense smoke, as if she’s coaxing out the timid, frightened part of you that’s always asking, “Will I be okay? Will I come to harm?”
Underneath, a subtle beat begins to pulse. It’s soft, steady, almost like a heartbeat finally deciding to stand up for itself. Organic and electronic textures brush against each other, with healing bowls, ghostly chimes, and electronic flickers all stitched into a haunted lullaby. The song circles, gathers, and gently turns the vulnerable inner monologue into something shared and less stuck.
Toward the end, the energy swells. A thicker force surges through the mix, engulfing the once-spacious atmosphere and tightening it into a tense, electric field. It’s not panic, exactly—more like the moment before a choice. Then, little by little, everything recedes, with the whispers, the hum, the pulse. “Are You Worthy?” leaves you in the quiet with the question still ringing, but now it feels more like an invitation.
