Behaviours by flakebelly: Review

“Behaviours” by flakebelly starts with the most unexpected and classical orchestration of music, and then flakebelly’s albeit slightly raspy yet soothing voice sweeps you further into the song. It belongs to the album with the matching title, filled with four other distinctive gems. The entire EP cross-connects a whole different vibe of separate genres – it’s unexplainable, in a good way.
The single “Behaviours” itself is a standalone track to me. It would be the perfect background companion when you’re spending slow mornings or spending a quiet afternoon in your cottage-core country home. There’s an orchestral composition that rises in intensity within the track’s interval, playing for a release or a brighter transition to your dull day. And then it circles back to the artist over a gentle guitar picking. I can’t believe how he shifts to a falsetto – what a delightful spectrum of vocal range, man! I think this was the first time in a while that I didn’t realize 5 minutes had already passed, leaving me with a cliffhanger-some craving.
When I checked out his other releases, flakebelly’s trials in indie rock and folk-jazz really intrigued me. If you’re within the same radar of such a distinctive mix of genres, then you’ll be captivated almost instantly. I cannot wait for more of y’all to check out both his album and its self-titled release “Behaviours.”
