Belle and Sebastian enlist London teenagers to direct the video for โTalk To Me Talk To Me.โ A Bit of Previous, the bandโs new album, has this song.
The music video for Belle and Sebastianโs single โTalk To Me Talk To Me,โ from their new album A Bit Of Previous, has been released. Freya and Rosalie Salkeld, 15-year-old south London siblings, wrote and directed the video.
In a statement, frontman Stuart Murdoch explains, โWe had a modest budget for the video and were planning to make it ourselves, but we ran out of time.โ โAs a result, we issued an open call to filmmakers interested in doing something on the existing budget, requesting an image capturing their concept and a 100-word pitch.โ The directorsโ mother contacted us, explaining that her daughters are fans of the band and avid filmmakers, and that they had put in a treatment that we really liked. They co-wrote and co-directed it, enlisting the help of a number of their pals to create a unique and amusing take on the song.โ
โOur concept came from images weโd shot of our pals for creative projects,โ the Salkeld siblings explained. It was great pleasure casting friends weโd recently seen in a school theater show โ filming them was even better!โ
After plans to record in Los Angeles were canceled owing to the pandemic, Belle and Sebastian recorded A Bit Of Previous in their hometown of Glasgow. Brian McNeill, Matt Wiggins, Kevin Burleigh, and Shawn Everett all contributed to the album, which was self-produced.
Later this month, Belle and Sebastian will tour in support of the album in the United States. The tour begins on May 24 at Rabbit Rabbit in Ashville, North Carolina, and concludes on June 18 at Roadrunner in Boston. In the fall, the band will return to the United Kingdom before touring Europe early next year.
