Get mesmerized by the standout track, “Black eyed girl” by indie rock band Fake Plastic from their titular debut album. “Black eyed girl” has an evocative and wistful atmosphere that you will be captivated by to no end.
The song begins with Till’s steely, glimmering guitar strums that immediately set a reflective and contemplative tone. The layered guitars create an otherworldly atmosphere, drawing the listener into the unique universe that Fake Plastic is constructing. Till enters with his raspy, high voice to haunt us with his mysterious touch and further drown the proceedings.
Whereas Pete’s grounding drum beats provide a rhythmic foundation that keeps the song firmly rooted. The guitars continue to dance in their strumming persuasion, expansive in their drive. The singer’s trailing high, energetic, and hypnotic tone doesn’t help the unearthly and strange atmosphere. It unroots us and pulls us into a captivating sonic trance.
The bridge muddles up the song with a new dimension. Till’s guitars slowly fuzz up, and a cyclical distortion takes center stage. This guitar distortion builds a sense of tension and anticipation as the song progresses. As “Black Eyed Girl” nears its end, the distortion evolves into a solo, providing a robust and dynamic climax to the track.
With Pete on the production, the duo has put together a tight and collaborative effort. The synergy between the two seamlessly integrates the enigma and makes it “Black Eyed Girl”’s foundation.
If “Black Eyed Girl” is any indication, Fake Plastic’s debut album promises to be a collection worth exploring. And if you find yourself absorbed by this track, don’t hesitate to dive into the whole album. Their eponymous album brandishes 10 songs that take you out of this world and into Fake Plastic’s universe.
