Black Midi has announced a new album and released the single “Welcome To Hell.” Hellfire will be released in July.
A new album from black midi has been announced. Hellfire, the U.K. trio’s follow-up to 2021’s Cavalcade, will be released on July 15 via Rough Trade Records. The new song “Welcome to Hell,” which you can listen to here, is part of today’s announcement.
“If Cavalcade was a drama, Hellfire is like an epic action flick,” the band’s Geordie Greep stated in a statement regarding the new album’s comparisons to last year’s.
“Almost everyone depicted is a jerk,” Greep continues. “Almost everything I write is based on a factual story, something I witnessed, embellished, and recorded. I don’t believe in Hell, but all that old world nonsense makes for beautiful music, and I’ve always enjoyed movies and other media depicting Hell. Dante’s Inferno is a work by Dante Alighieri. In The Simpsons, when Homer gets to Hell. In Futurama, there is a robot Hell. Isaac Bashevis Singer is a Jewish author who depicts Satan as meddling in people’s lives. There’s a lot!”
In addition to the announcement of a new album, black midi have booked three North American tour dates for this summer. In July, they will perform in Boston, New Jersey, and New York. Dates and locations are listed below.
