“Blow” marks the debut single from Ooma, a soulful, jazz-infused collective that invites listeners into the intimate world of budding desire. Released on November 24, 2023, the track draws your sensuality out to explore and express the seductive allure of deep-seated passion.
Comprising Nicolas Bauer on bass, Florian Berret on keyboards, Tansy Greenlee on vocals, and Hélios Mikhaïl on drums, Ooma draws inspiration from a diverse array of artists, including Erykah Badu, Portishead, and James Blake. With these influences, they infuse soul, jazz, and trip-hop elements into “Blow” with a contemporary flair.
At the heart of the track lies Tansy Greenlee’s captivating vocals, with all her sweet, syrupy smoothness underscored by a husky texture. Her soulful and soft vibrato emanates a delicate dream-like delicacy to the song, reminiscent of a dandelion floating through the air. The recurring line, “I just want to be alone with you,” becomes a mesmerizing mantra that seduces you.
The instrumentation, driven by a relaxing background and glinting textures, is complemented by a solid backbeat with a rhythmic foundation. Combining these musical elements creates a soothing and alluring atmosphere, carrying you away by the song’s emotive currents.
Since their live sessions in 2022, Ooma has been no stranger to live shows, as they have performed in various Parisian venues. Now, they are dropping more original music with their upcoming debut EP, Home this May 2024. Recorded at Red House Studio, the EP will help you cognize Ooma’s soulful melodies and introspective lyricism in all its shades.
