Chrysifloga drops fiery cover of Radiohead song ‘Creep’
A dark, almost psychotic cover of Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ is from up-and-coming Rock / Metal artist chrysifloga. The song features deep growls and piercing screams.
The Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer says the idea for the track was discussed during a lunch meeting with Vicky Hamilton, whose boutique record label Dark Spark Music released it. The two first ran into each other at a bar on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles during one of Chrysifloga’s performances, where he skillfully blended the well-known song with his Rock & Nu-metal soundtrack.
The song’s initial demo was created entirely by chrysifloga and was recorded in his bedroom over the course of six hours. As soon as you press play, a melancholy minor-key piano line sets the mood, which is quickly followed by an eerie vocal introduction. Deep, desperation-filled growls and piercing screams from the artist lead the listener into the song’s climax as the chorus appropriately drops with red-hot distortion guitars (guitarist Xander Gambini on guitar). Chrysifloga’s vocal performance almost had hints of desperation and psychosis to it.
