Coconut Shy Releases Calming Folk Song “The Finest Day”
Coconut Shy is Joseph Mackey, a musician from Naarm/Melbourne. His new track “The Finest Day” (April 7) has him ecstatic since he is an acoustic-folk singer/songwriter. You may listen to or download this track on any service, including Apple Music and Spotify. After the release of “Water, Water” in October of last year, this is the second single the Melbourne-based musician has put out in as many months. Both tracks will also be performed live by Coconut Shy a week before the official release on April 1st at The Palace Hotel in Camberwell, Melbourne.
The shift from dwelling on the past to anticipating the future is both a puzzling and exhilarating one. Australian musician Coconut Shy wrote a song called “The Finest Day” about this very idea. Hope for the future is the driving force behind the calm, mellow, easy-paced, and pleasant hymn “The Finest Day.” Its focus is ahead, on the future, on the huge unknown, not with anxiety but with joy, passion, and energy.
“The Finest Day” is a lovely acoustic-folk piece that resonated with me immensely. Being a fan of folk veterans Angus and Julia Stone moved me to become a longtime fan of the genre. Thus, I was pleased when I heard Coconut Shy’s song, for it is equally amazing in contrast to the legendary brother-sister duo. Apart from that, the track is a vibrant mix of vocals and guitars. It’ll keep you hooked on its gentle cadence and coming back for more.
