Hold your breath because Primes is here with their debut EP Colour, which was only released a few days ago!
The six songs that make up their debut EP are all introspective looks back on some of the year’s high points. As an added bonus, it is fascinating to observe how they use sequential and narrative forms to convey their ideas. The band wanted to make more of a conscious effort to sound like alternative rock with a pop flavor, so they “redesigned” their sound to do so. The ups and downs of falling in love and breaking up are all here in this piece. We’ve all had times in our life when our emotions have left us feeling exposed, much like the protagonist in “Paper in the Rain.” Primes’ album’s title track, “Colour,” showcases the band’s exploratory spirit by blending elements of pop punk, indie, pop, and alternative rock. Having been influenced by bands such as Kings of Leon, Biffy Clyro, and Foo Fighters, it’s a walk in the park for them to “Talk Too Much” about the fruits of their effort, but they’re “Here Right Now” to show the world what they’ve made.
Scottish band Primes began as a trio consisting of Ollie, Sarah, and Reece, and then expanded in 2022 when Ray became a member. You’ll have a hard time putting this band’s catchy choruses and memorable riffs out of your head as they continue to carve out their own in the alternative rock music scene with a pop influence.
