Following the moody and reflective “In the Shadow of Time,” Shyfrin Alliance take things up a notch with “Colours of Time.” Right from the get-go, that haunting guitar riff grabs you by the collar, and the shimmering cymbals feel like stardust sprinkling through the mix. Then the steady, heavy, and unhurried drums kick in, like they’re setting the heartbeat for some cosmic journey. Eduard Shyfrin’s deep, thick, and gravelly voice are enough to carry the weight of the song’s musings on memory, perception, and the ever-slipping sands of time. But just as you think it’s all grit, the high, ethereal and soulful harmonies float in, like the light breaking through clouds.
Lyrically, “Colours of Time” hits that sweet spot between the personal and the universal. It counts minutes and hours. Red for passion, black for loss, white for clarity, and, as Shyfrin himself bluntly says, no room for dull grey. The track makes you stop, breathe, and maybe even reconsider how you’re marking your own days. Meanwhile, the band comes like Pink Floyd meeting Peter Gabriel for a late-night jam session, with a dash of progressive rock that doesn’t shy away from big ideas.
By the time the final notes fade, you’re left with that satisfying mix of melancholy and uplift, that makes you hit replay without a second thought. “Colours of Time” by Shyfrin Alliance is a moody, little mirror held up to your own life.
