EXCITING NEW PUNK DUO DEAD HENDRIX AND LEVI ZADOFF UNVEIL THEIR DEBUT EP ‘DEAD SUMMER’
Introducing LEVI ZADOFF, a Los Angeles pop-punk musician, and DEAD HENDRIX, an Ottawa punk newbie, with their new EP DEAD SUMMER, which sees the punk pair lamenting the summers we lost to Covid. Dead Hendrix and Levi Zadoff have used their feelings of loss and angst as fuel to create their new EP, DEAD SUMMER, in response to not only the metaphorical death of summer these past two years when everyone was in lockdown, but also the loss of friends and family due to the virus and drug abuse that was exacerbated by the global pandemic.
Dead Hendrix and Levi Zadoff have teamed up with burgeoning producers IOF (Future, Paris Shadows), Yago Beats, SPLASHGVNG (Lil Peep, Sewerperson), and Imani Beats for their DEAD SUMMER project, bringing their glorious punk fusion sound, with its experimental pop-punk and rap-rock sensibilities, to life throughout the 5-track EP offering. Dead Hendrix and Levi Zadoff have wowed fans and critics alike with sympathetic songwriting, gripping angst-fuelled vocal performances, irresistible hooks, engaging melodies, and outstanding musicianship.
From the ironic EP opener, sarcastically titled ‘Don’t Think It Could Get Much Better,’ and the introspective ‘Alone,’ where Hendrix and Zadoff tell a sad story of loneliness and confusion from two opposing perspectives, to ‘Can’t Be God,’ where both artists accept that they can’t control every aspect of their lives, and ‘Love Game,’ about being trapped in our own heads and struggling with love, to ‘Can’
“This project means the world to me, it was tremendously fun to develop and a pain in the ass to release, but most importantly, it was a pain in the ass to release,” Levi Zadoff says of the DEAD SUMMER EP’s inspiration.
“This is the closest thing (so far) to my musical dreams coming to reality,” Dead Hendrix says, adding, “It’s probably the most authentic yet experimental piece of work I’ve ever been a part of crafting.” I’m looking for the perfect balance of melody, edge, counterculture, and relevance. I believe that with Levi, I am finally doing the music that I have wanted to make since I was 13.”
Levi Zadoff, a young LA pop-punk musician who has previously resided in Australia and the Netherlands, has a global outlook and different life experiences that reflect through in his music. He is a great believer in freedom of artistry and the concept that music is one of the best tools for communication, with over 10 million plays on SoundCloud. Dead Hendrix, his colleague on this new endeavor, is an interesting new talent to keep an eye on this year. Hendrix, who is from Ottawa, Canada, is becoming well-known in his hometown for the distinctiveness and originality of his punk fusion music, which he is eager to share with the rest of the globe.
The ‘DEAD SUMMER’ EP from Dead Hendrix and Levi Zadoff is out on June 3.
