Edinburgh’s rising outfit Pray Silence crash onto the scene with their debut single “DRAGON OF CHAOS,” and honestly, they’re here to shake the ground beneath your feet. Formed by multi-instrumentalist Marky Wildtype and vocalist-artist Sam Siggs, the project leans into a darker, heavier sonic identity that’s been brewing for years. So the track feels volatile, layered, and just a little bit unhinged—in the best way.
It all begins deceptively calm. Shimmering guitar lines ripple outward, almost hypnotic, like the quiet before a storm. There’s a sense of space, of restraint, but it doesn’t last long. Before you know it, the track snaps into motion. Gritty riffs surge forward, drums start pounding with intent, and cymbals crash like breaking glass. That initial calm? Gone. Replaced by something urgent and alive.
Vocally, the performance walks a tightrope between control and chaos. The singer’s higher register cuts sharply through the mix, tense and coiled, matching the rhythm section beat for beat. When the chorus hits, though, all bets are off. The delivery turns frantic, almost breathless, as if the words can barely keep up with the momentum. It’s intense, a little feral, and completely gripping.
What makes “DRAGON OF CHAOS” stick is the precision behind the heaviness. The band builds it, layer by layer, until it feels like it might collapse under its own weight. And yet, it never does. Instead, it keeps pushing forward, churning with purpose.
For a debut, this is a bold swing. It’s got bite, brains, and a whole lot of attitude—Pray Silence clearly aren’t here to play it safe, and that’s exactly why this hits so hard.
