Evergrey, Gothenburg’s finest export of darkness, enters a perplexing new chapter in their history with A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament), their thirteenth studio album and Napalm Records debut, which will be released on May 20.

Evergrey conjure another overpowering epos along their continuous adventurous voyage today, following the release of the pounding album opener and lead single “Save Us,” followed by the dramatic “Midwinter Calls.” “Blindfolded,” the third single, opens with thundering percussion and a flickering, synth-laden ambience. The tune is the perfect doorway into mesmerizing soundscapes, with its wildly grooving guitar solo topped off by Englund’s wonderful vocals.

Tom S. Englund keeps outdoing himself, as evidenced by the impending Evergrey album. His distinctive falsetto choices boost the entire vocal performance to “excellent” in “Blindfolded.” Leave your worries behind and be captivated by Evergrey’s captivating new song.

“Blindfolded,” like every other song from A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament) to date, is accompanied with a cinematic music video, which concludes a three-part video story and returns the listener to the beginning.

“This is the third and last video of our trilogy,” Evergrey said of “Blindfolded.” It includes our acting debut, which you should take lightly! It’s also the first installment of a three-part tale. We hope you appreciate it and will tell us what you think about it!”

The new album was recorded at Top Floor Studios in Gothenburg, engineered by Jakob Herrman and produced by Tom S. Englund and Jonas Ekdahl, with mixing and mastering by Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios (Volbeat, Destruction, Epica, and others), and the hauntingly beautiful album artwork by Giannis Nakos at Remedy Art Design. Oceans Of Slumber, Amaranthe, The Agonist, and The Crown, to mention a few, have commissioned Nakos to create artwork, as well as products for Morbid Angel, Suffocation, and Cryptopsy.
