Green by Olly Lagemann: Review

“Green” by Olly Lagemann is the latest offering from the German rock-pop songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. This EP is a set of four exciting songs in his native language.

“Was sie aus einem macht” kicks off the album with a catchy rhythm. The song has a funky upbeat bass that reminiscent of the early 70s disco that brought everyone to the dance floor and make them sway with the funky rhythm. Combine that with its catchy synth melodies, one can play it on repeat the whole night. The following track, “Tanz mit mir,” has a smoother beat, but it is not hard to find a funky theme.

The third song, “Auf in die Nacht” as the name suggests, is an invitation to a vibrant night of dancing to electronic beats. Each techno beat fills the atmosphere with rapture and energy. The EP closes with “Das bist Du”, a rock ballad performance by the German artist. It is an amazing mixture of nostalgia with contemporary vibes. The lyrics underline the personality of a young girl who always follows her beliefs and choices. Despite being synth-heavy, there’s a subtle Beatles influence in the arrangements that one might notice. Olly Lagemann created this vivid EP as he painted with vintage colors on a modern canvas. This is hands-down a definitive EP of Olly Lagemann’s sound.
