Kill You Slowly by Nick Kandler: Review
American musician Nick Kandler, from Los Angeles, is a rising star in the indie pop music genre. 2020 saw the release of “Closure,” the singer-songwriter’s breakthrough hit, followed by “Stay,” both of which attracted sizable audiences. If you are new to his music, now is the time to get on board as he has announced the release of his third song, “Kill You Slowly.”
This pleasant and hypnotic melody contains many deeper layers that are worth exploring. An acoustic guitar solo sets the somber tone from the beginning, joined by the pretty percussion in the verse. As the song moves into the chorus, a deeper bass and a thumping drum kick grab the stage and deliver a hook that leans closer towards rock elements. When asked about his artistic approach, Kandler stated that the kind of music that fills him with euphoria is what he aspires to create. It’s incredible to hear his singing ability showcased in this song. It’s smooth, evocative, and heart-touching, with his falsetto as the cherry on top. Lyrically, he writes on the realization that he had messed up his relationship as a result of a small untruth that he had said. His self-reflection is laced with regrets that are both bitter and sweet, disappointment, and a trace of resentment. It’s obvious to see that Kandler’s songwriting ability is on par with his singing.
In 2022, Nick Kandler intends to share more music as he gets ready for something truly amazing. Give it a listen right away!
