Here’s The Thing by Eve Casino: Album Review
“Here’s The Thing” is Eve Casino’s latest album, released in 2022. Ryan “Haggy” Hegarthy is on bass and vocals, Marco Obaya on lead guitar and vocals, Sam Skilnik on rhythm guitar, keys, and vocals, and Chris Taylor on drums and percussion. They follow the genres of psychedelia, blues, and punk rock, and their influences are The Doors, Weezer, and the Cars.
“Hotter”- the first track starts with radio-voiced words, then enters the fuzzy wah-wah rhythm with the splash sound of the drums, and comes the bass. Later, with a beautiful drum roll everything else enter the scene; the composition gives a funky feel and the solo, in the beginning, is pretty wild. When the strong vocalist sings, the composition compliments the whole track with his voice. Overall, it took the torch!
“Before I hit the ground” the second song starts with distant-sounding guitar riffs and a small solo and the drum rolls to open up the track with a face-melting intro. The groovy bass tune and the drumming are in sync. The radio-voiced vocal went so well with the track, and the back vocal work also was magical. The guitar solo, with its wah-wah effect and a full-on blues mode, was interestingly smoky and awesome.
“Summertime Dreamin’ (ft. Navi Smith)” is the last track, and it begins with a clean-toned overdriven riff along with a bass line and then transitions into a guitar solo. The vocalist, sounded a lot like Kurt Cobain and had great control over his vocals. The guitar solo was amazingly executed, and the whole song has a Lynyrd Skynyrd vibe to it.
It was an incredible album- it gave me the feeling of an old-school rock and classic rock album with a new sound.
