In “I Die Every Night,” electro-pop artist Gary Mictian sings about how he always gives in to his partner, only wanting him when they are all alone. Furthermore, he refers to being subjected to gaslighting by them in his lyrics: ‘You call me crazy when I am feeling alone.’ But this song isn’t about all that toxicity. It’s about Gary finally realizing he’s better than that.
Gary Mictian released his single “I Die Every Night” from his debut EP on the 10th of March in 2023. He sings of a past comprised of toxic relationships in his single.
The English pop music producer and songwriter expresses, “This is the story of my journey coming to terms with my inability to accept love from the people in my life and growing out of my emotional unavailability.”
The Hyperpop track, ‘I Die Every Night,’ fluently represents the toxic cycle of heartbreaks with ubiquitous thematic EDM and the rising synth waves in the chorus. Anyone who has jammed to the Weeknd will find their sound in Gary’s music. Though the music is futuristic and has elements of a dance track, Gary chooses to go raw with his lyrics.
The lyrics portray a challenge, with him finding himself after losing his essence in toxic relationships. He is ingenious in representing a contextual juxtaposition that demonstrates self-growth in his lyrics while the music cathartically progresses in an aggressive combination, helping you really dive into the intensity.
