Take a Walk by The AJM Show is a clean play of guitar and synth in pop music. His low vocals provide a nice trim to the electric guitar, consistent drums, and synth-pop instrumental, which beleaguer the entire song with a confounding grip.
On February 10th of this year, The AJM Show released his single, Take a Walk, a synth-pop song with Indie and R&B influences that is a take on the recent global pandemic when there was no difference between Mondays and Sundays. He expresses his overall displeasure with the line, “This monotonous life is getting harder than I assumed.’
The song starts with an electric guitar riff, taking up most of the space in the soundscape. Yet, the whole environment in Take a Walk remains clean as he hazily sings in the lower tones. He slowly begins the song with an echoing ‘Ahh-Ooh’ accompanying the guitar riffs before he turns it around with his entire instrumental composition of drums, synth, and bass coming together for an encompassing ambiance in the play.
Nearing the chorus, the drums stop thrumming, and the synth waves wash in as he sings, ‘It’s been going on for weeks; every night I barely sleep.’ The line relates to AJM’s life progression being thrown under the bus with the monotony, and him finding it difficult to cope with being within the four walls at all times. So he decides to spice it up with sarcasm in the chorus: ‘Don’t you wanna take a walk with me?” I imagine there’s something new to see.’
