Iโm A Stranger Here Myself by Hush Bewlay: Review
As a musician enjoying vibes from yesteryear, I genuinely appreciate and admire when I come across similar artists with heartfelt inspiration in bringing back the sounds from the 80s. Therefore, presenting Hush Bewlayโs self-produced first EP, โIโm A Stranger Here Myself,โ.
Here is a track-by-track analysis and review of Hushโs majestic EP โ
Stranger โ The song starts off with an extremely catchy bass, electro-synth, and melodious syn arpeggios. Itโs simply wonderful and a soothing tune to hear. Hushโs voice is a baritone artsy tone and is truly lovely to listen to. A more space-like synth enters after the second half of the song with static synth and bass notes. Killer start!
Every Living Thing Adores You โ A sensational tribute to 80s classic rock and synth wave. It sounds kinda like early U2 and the main hook of the song is remarkable. The bass and piano arrangement is simply beautiful. The lyrical composition is strong on this one. Distorted guitars enter later on and have a drive that pushes the song further on.
Emulator โ A classic retro-themed bass line and synth play on and Hushโs voice reflects it beautifully as a balance perfectly exists between instruments and his voice. The short synth solo and the minimal way it ends were glorious.
The Cathedral Swings โ A guitar and bass-driven eerie track that is truly beautiful. The song has a deeper tone than the other tracks, and the tempo is slower. But nevertheless, a truly resonating number. The final synth outro/solo is truly breathtaking!
