Into The Sky by Clay Joule: Review
Clay Joule hypnotizes the alternative electronic music scene with a distinctive taste in music fluidity, sensuality, and healing with ‘Into The Sky’. The track is hands down one of the best releases of this year.
Choosing a minimalist approach to lyrics but maximal effects on the instrumentation, Clay never hesitates to cover exotic sound materials that are often exploited in hip-hop, but now in a more healing, meeker direction. The track is created in the middle of a global catastrophe when everything feels so overwhelmed and imprisoned at the same time. Especially people that struggle with mental illnesses, have to face more difficulties and even find it hard to raise awareness about this issue. Therefore, Clay releases a just-in-time lullaby that not only soothes the soul but also opens up endless possibilities of self-expression, vulnerability and relatability. The instrumentation of the song is absolutely mesmerizing and I am obsessed with the way he uses layers of sounds like the electronic bass, the clarinet, and the Spanish guitar throughout the song to create a fantasy cowboy atmosphere that is bound to blow you away. The raspy vocals arranged in overlapping effects make an imprint on the listener, and I am sure that it will not go away anytime soon. Songs like Into The Sky provide us with the strength to face our everyday battles with mental health, as well as a good momentary distraction from the mental anguish.
Into The Sky by Clay Joule is now available for streaming.
