If you are someone who loves deep music and loves yourself some rock, Love Ghost’s latest alternative grunge rock hit, “Jealousy,” will rock you. The way the instruments blend with Finnegan Bell’s vocals is like nothing I’ve heard before.
The lead singer, Finnegan Bell, really knows how to bring emotion to the lyrics because, for him, it comes from the heart. He says, “I’ve always worn my heart on my sleeve, and being this passionate can hurt at times. I can be a people pleaser for people that don’t care as much about me, and I’m trying to get out of that unhealthy habit.”
Love Ghost conveys his desperations through his nuanced lyrics in a poignantly metaphorical manner as the distance between him and the girl he loves increases, such as: “Jealous of the rain, as it runs down your skin/ Jealous of your pain, as it lives inside of you/ No more talking, dead ones stalking.”
As for the musical aspects, in “Jealousy,” Love Ghost also tunes in with an immaculate guitar solo. The opening guitar riff immediately sets the tone for the song with its haunting and melancholic sound. As the song progresses, the drums come in, giving it a driving rhythm that keeps the energy up and steadies the beat throughout the song, leaving much to respect the drummer for.
However, whatever the story is that Love Ghost is trying to convey in his song “Jealousy,” the lyrics are vague enough to help us build our perceptions from our own experiences. Being this much of an emotive person, Finnegan doesn’t forget to leave a touch of “emo” aesthetics in his music video. Don’t forget to check out the cinematic masterpiece as well!
