Just a Word by Munk Duane: Review
Munk Duane is a film composer and a recording artist who released his second latest single โJust a wordโ on November 11, 2022. It was written, composed, and produced by him. His influences are Stevie Wonder, Prince, 60s, 70s soul and pop music, and to stand out, the kind of music he makes has some new-age twists in it.
โJust a wordโ starts off with a cool running bass line with a keyboard tune and then comes in the programmed-sounding drumming. The keyboard sound in the background of the song is very soft and soothing and the chucking sound of the funky guitar gives it a beautiful flavor. The lovely atmosphere created by the heavenly synths is carried throughout the song. The chorus features several vocal harmonies that enhance the songโs composition, which is already brilliant. The vocal works are original infused with RnB chops, and the transitions within the track are very smooth and enjoyable.
You will be immediately hooked into the daze with which Munk Duane grabs your attention and he manages to keep you that way by the sheer virtue of how majestic and relaxed the composition actually is. The sound quality and mastering of the track are impressive; they were done by Brian Lucey, who also worked with The Black Keys, Post Malone, and more amazing bands of the era. Therefore, it should not come as a surprise when we are treated to a song that takes us on a thrill ride in under four minutes.
