Kelow LaTesha Debuts Music Video for “Genius”. LaTesha has made a name for herself in the DMV rap scene.
Kelow LaTesha defies today’s hip-stigmas, hop’s labels, ideas, and preconceptions. She has risen to become a dynamic artist with the amazing ability to transport her audience both audibly and physically through a deliberately constructed aesthetic in the DMV rap scene.
She recently released “Genius,” her first new song of 2022, and in collaboration with SoundCloud and in honor of being named to SoundCloud’s “First on SoundCloud” Class of 2022, she releases the track’s vivid new video. Tyler B Studios directed the video, with BUTTA providing creative direction (aka Kelow).
“Genius” is a self-affirmation that, even if others are trying to tear you down and question your talents, you must believe in yourself and your desire. “Sometimes people try to diminish what you do, make you feel tiny, and minimize what you provide to the world,” says Kelow, “but they observe what you do and want to be just like you.” “You should never doubt yourself, and you should trust yourself because you are the genius.”
Kelow is hosting fan meet and greets across the DMV region today, April 27th, to commemorate the release of the video, along with a moving truck playing the “Genius” music video.
The artists chosen for SoundCloud’s “First on SoundCloud” Class of 2022 will work directly with SoundCloud over the next year to co-produce tangible, career-defining moments to deepen artist-to-fan connections, creating unique opportunities to reach new audiences. They will be championed by SoundCloud fans and hand-selected by SoundCloud’s music team.
“It’s for the people on SoundCloud! It has provided a platform for all types of artists to communicate and collaborate “Kelow LaTesha agrees. “Being acknowledged and working with First on SoundCloud to establish connections and help more fans discover my music is fantastic.”
Kelow LaTesha provides music that moves you, makes you feel good, and brings people together. The innovative artist, who was born and reared in Prince George’s County, Maryland, has had a desire to create since she was a child, and she often expressed herself through painting and music. As a creative director, she has gone on to release music and visuals under the name BUTTA, and has opened for acts such as Metro Boomin.
Prior to the release of “Genius,” Kelow had gained acclaim and a diverse fan base thanks to her definitive album, TSA, released in 2019, which demonstrated her ability to transcend genres and consistently innovate, and was followed by TSA Deluxe in 2020, which featured Rico Nasty, one of the region’s leading rappers. Her Amethyst Stoner EP and its adrenaline-fueled track “Finna,” which became a viral hit on SoundCloud and was eventually transformed into a dynamic remix starring Lil Uzi Vert, helped her gain traction.
