Landslide by DAS ELITE: EP Review
Swedish artist Andreas Ahlenius is DAS ELITE, an electronic act creating soul-stirring melodies. His EP “Landslide” is pretty outstanding as it involves atmospheric hymns that are vibrant and resonant. DAS ELITE’s melodic aura is ideal for anyone just getting into the electronica genre, as it involves a pleasant combination of dreamy synths, solid beats, and a passionate singer directing it.
The EP opens up with the cadence of “Landslide”, which by the way has four distinct remixes apart from the original. Anyway, this first tune gave off intense Depeche Mode vibes, and I was pleased to hear that Andreas’ inspiration pays homage to their music. The instrumentation involves fat synth bars that entangle with groovy percussions. Aside from that, a singer with a clean tone keeps the melody strong and lovely to hear on repeat. Coming back to the point of Landslide’s remix, the four renditions, in particular, were excellent to vibe out to, however, the Landslide After Hours Mix featuring Magnus Moody was the most thrilling. Especially the basslines of this version were jaw-dropping, and perfectly captures the heat of deep house. The thumping electro bass and beats painted a picture of a Swedish nightclub where an all-night rave takes place.
DAS ELITE’s EP introduces a dash of melancholy in the track “Align.” It’s a slow-paced EDM tune that has dark rhythm sections and a dramatic vocal sequence. Altogether, a stellar track that anyone can escape to.
