Leave Your Light On by Imelda Kehoe: Album Review
Emotions run wild in Imelda Kehoe’s evocative folk album, “Leave Your Light On.” The Irish singer-songwriter’s ability to create enchanting sounds is impressive. In addition to that, her calming voice heals your soul. I’ve had such a great time exploring the record on that note.
“Where To Now” opens up the album with a moving narrative wrapped in a heartfelt acoustic ode. Right after that, the atmospheric indie-folk number “Ohio” comes on and carries a lovely cadence. The bluesy guitar bits on this track were played by Horacio Valdivieso, and their chemistry with Imelda’s voice was a pleasant experience to absorb. As the tune came to a close, another special one entered. The album’s self-titled song is a hauntingly beautiful hymn that keeps your mind occupied with a memorable melody. A clean vocal sequence and ambient keys work together to form a powerful sonic bond, and the outcome is truly stellar. Upon reaching the uplifting aura of “Invisible,” a wave of symphonies graced my senses, where Imelda’s cinematic voice blended alongside a thrilling instrumental. Furthermore, the chill of jazz signaled its arrival in the smooth number “Seventy Five Beats.” It pertains to that iconic genre through the percussive pieces and rhythmic approach.
Larry Hogan’s production work gave Imelda’s album a thorough polish. Each track is a labor of love, and I had a fantastic time hearing all of it. It is available for streaming, so don’t miss out on it!
