“Lighthouse(Live At Komedia Bath 2019)” by James Harriman showcases a different but engaging and healing live performance of his original song.
The first thing you hear from the track is the artist’s voice—speaking—and then you notice that English accent. What is particularly noteworthy is the way he interacts with his audience though. The charisma oozes from his jovial and lively tone, which is crazy because the artist has recalled that time was pretty tricky for him. It only shows how much love there is between him and his fans.
The song—which was apparently slowed down because of the artist’s struggle with mental health at that time—starts with the shimmering and slow strums of the guitar, and then his voice emerges singing out softly and lowly his opening lines, “sunset on a cloudy day/how it fades out when no one sees it.” With his heart and attention in every note, he touches every line with a textured ebb and flow that just grabs your attention with all its might—but quite effortlessly.
When the chorus comes, it does so with a shimmer, a beat and a percussive jittery rattle that glints a little light into the song. The beats start steady, then pick up the pace with the catchy guitars and vocal delivery. He sings, “Let me be your lighthouse,” with his voice weaving towards you in flowing and receding waves with a smooth and upbeat rhythm.
“Lighthouse” is an intriguing song you can’t miss from folk and 90’s Brit-pop sound-inspired musician. But his debut album is coming soon, so await while aglow!
