Boston-based singer-songwriter Vanna Pacella makes a stunning debut with her 9-track album Listen, released July 25, 2025. At only 18, Pacella emerges as a force to be reckoned with—writing, producing, and performing intimate music that expands to cinematism. With her ethereal rock sound merging indie pop with grand piano melodies and distorted guitars, Pacella brings a wisdom beyond her years.
Listen explores the messiness of love, loss, and self-realization, capturing that in-between space of growing up where vulnerability meets resilience. Made from scratch with her bandmates and produced entirely on her own, the record plays like a diary turned symphony, one that demands, quite literally, to be heard.
The album opens gently with “The More I Feel,” a 19-second piano instrumental that glimmers with nuance, like a quiet breath before the storm. Then comes the title track “Listen,” a sprawling six-minute anthem that burns slow but fierce. Gritty guitars grind under thundering drums as Vanna’s thick, trembling vocals spill raw emotion. She asks, “What’s the point of loving just to watch it fade away?” The song swells and softens in waves, her voice pleading “Is anybody listening?” until it becomes a question and catharsis.
“Holding My Breath” pushes deeper into the turmoil of growing up, with pounding cymbals and lush guitar shimmer framing Vanna’s anguished cry. The lyrics paint youth as a storm, “I’ve been keeping it hid just to let it all go,” and you can almost feel her exhale through the melody. By the closing track, “The Less I Know,” the record reaches an atmospheric calm, with bustling drums and dreamy guitars echoing acceptance after chaos.
From start to finish, Listen is a soulful, bruised, honest, and beautifully unguarded coming-of-age statement. So, if you like what you hear, listen to Vanna Pacella unfurling it all on Spotify.
