Love Is A Sickness by Enid: Review
Love is a state of mind that is not always desired because we have no control over it. Sometimes love is a blessing, sometimes it is a sickness full of woes. ‘Love Is A Sickness’ is a song about the unwelcome facets of love.
‘Love Is A Sickness’ is a song from Belgian band Enid’s first EP ‘Paracosmic Collision’. the band has tried to paint the world in a symbolic way with original compositions. ‘Love Is A Sickness’ is a standout song from the album. The lyrics of the song are from a poetry by Samuel Daniel about the torrid nature of love.
The most noticeable thing about the song is the voice of lead singer Nawal– a voice that is built to sing about love with a throwback 80’s-90’s theatrical persona commensurate with a diva. The nuances in her voice are distinct and unique. Heavy use of synth and keys complemented by melodic guitars and thumping bass creates a mesmerizing experience that will keep the listeners hooked. You may mistake this song for one which was composed for a classic romantic movie back in the 80’s and you would not be wrong. It sounds so nostalgic and intimate that it will take you back years in your memory lane and remind you of pasts long buried beneath newfound wonders.
Enid has done a terrific job in conforming to their musical identity in their first EP, one that will instantly differentiate the band from other artists of the genre.
