What happens when the love someone needed never quite arrived? “Loved Properly” by Swiss producer and drummer Killian Caputo and vocalist Elle Vee sits inside that question, turning emotional deprivation into a cinematic bass track that aches before it erupts. Released August 21, 2026 through Arctic Empire, the collaboration blends melodic bass, future bass, melodic dubstep and trap-influenced percussion, pairing vulnerable songwriting with production that knows exactly when to hold back and when to hit hard.
The song begins with thumping beats and a heavy, deep bassline that gives the arrangement an immediate physical presence. Over that pulse, Elle Vee’s sensual, tender voice enters with remarkable emotional intimacy. She sings as though every line is being pulled from somewhere tender and bruised, her delivery dripping with warmth and passion and carrying the unmistakable feeling of someone on the verge of tears.
Then the intensity surges. Sharp, stinging synths come pulsing into the chorus, transforming the track’s melancholy into something almost overwhelming. The verses feel close enough to whisper into someone’s ear, while the heavier sections explode outward with electronic force. Sidechained synths, punchy percussion and cinematic textures give the production plenty of movement.
What makes “Loved Properly” particularly affecting is that it is not simply about romantic heartbreak. Its emotional center is the absence of affection, recognition and connection someone should have received throughout their life. Elle Vee sounds like she is grieving an entire lifetime of emotional needs left unanswered through her heartbreak.
Caputo’s decision to create a fully orchestral version only deepens that idea. With Swiss violinist Lou Rémy adding layered violin and Caputo introducing piano, the alternate arrangement shifts the spotlight from bass drops toward organic, cinematic emotion.
Still, the original has its own undeniable punch. It takes a quiet wound, gives it a heartbeat, and then lets the whole thing detonate.
