Luma Fade aka Benji Dalton returns us to our still eras with his latest dreamy rock album Lunar Decay. Released at the edge of 2023, on Dec 22, it couldn’t have come at a better time because what better time is there to reflect what we have been through?
The first track, “Passion Fall,” is a relaxing track with electric guitar riffs chiming dreamily against thumping drums balanced perfectly to create an immersive ambient aura. The next one, “Nova Sunshine” has a catchy rhythm section, and the guitar rather shimmers here. The singer’s voice is even more wispy, psychedelic, and high in the atmospheric mood.
The fourth track, “Monsoon Morning,” has intriguing textures and siren-like female backing vocals. What sets it apart is how the singer hazily, almost drowsily wording out a monologue.
“Dimmer Summer” has the vocals reverbed to float in the hazy stupor. The penultimate track, “Twilight Hours,” showcases thumping cymbals and drums against riffing guitars. The song has a rather soothing and optimistic vibe in the way it drives and also grounds at the same time, that too, with a catchy flair.
Finally, we have approached the ninth and final track, “Winter Warming” with its own mood. The ambient waves draw down their curtains upon the chilly still vibes. The hazy guitar buzz balances the mood with its vibrations sonically. His vocals are pretty emotive and subtly passionate, but they are layered to be faded beneath the buzz, so the song has a spatial vibe to it.
Luma Fade shows us how to spur creativity and a parallel world with its very own Lunar catastrophe in the darkest of hours as in COVID-19 with his latest album, Lunar Decay. Listen to the full album on Spotify!
