(Made It) Another Day ft. Jerry Manfredi by Gary Dranow: Review
The soul and heart of blues music come alive in Gary Dranowโs track โ(Made It) Another Dayโ which also features Jerry Manfredi. A moody essence is present on the track providing a serene listening experience. As a blues man myself, Iโm a big enthusiast of all forms of blues, but particularly delta blues is my sweet spot. This is where more sliding of the guitar is present and is a sound I truly admire. So, I felt more drawn to the gripping blues tale in โ(Made It) Another Day.โ
When I first acquired a steel slide to play some vintage blues on my guitar, I felt truly inspired. Alas, the technique is still not within my grasp. But, whenever I hear the sound of a resonator guitar and a slider being implemented, it truly sounds magical. In Garyโs track, the guitar portions have an old-timey aesthetic to them, and with the addition of a funky bassline, itโs a bonafide hit. The singerโs deep voice adds to the tension of the tune and makes it quite vibrant too.
Delta blues is an interesting segment of the genre that originates from the southern regions of America. Its history is deeply rooted in folk from that part of town, and the influence is scattered throughout rock music. Gary Dranowโs musical prowess stems from an integral part of delta blues, and it was truly a special resonance to discover.
