A dark reflection of the artist’s deep heartbreak, ‘Consume’, which debuted at #8 on the Official NZ Top 40 “Hot Singles Chart, is told through sensually intimate vocals, piercingly honest lyrics, and pulsating bass lines. The album’s goal is to take the listener on an all-consuming journey that ends in mutual liberation. Madeline Berry wrote the music and the lyrics, and Jake Stokes handled the production. MADELINE is straightforward, alluring, and thoughtful. Her evocative brand of soulful neo-pop, which draws inspiration from classic literature and art, challenges timelines and breaks with convention.
MADELINE is an experienced performer and well-known figure from the local scene. She is a founding member of the Auckland all-girl rock band She Loves You and is responsible for lead vocals and songwriting. Madeline combines hypnotic lounge vocals and enticing trap beats in her personal pursuit. Madeline was inspired by her love of Lady Gaga, Arctic Monkeys, and Amy Winehouse. Thumping bass lines finish this off to give her a sound that is all her own. She continues to exude front-woman confidence throughout.
