Mr. Strange by Jenn Vix: Review
“Mr. Strange” is about a male blow-up doll that the singer addresses as Mr. Strange and a woman who wants to explore her desires and imagination. She wants to live spontaneity to its fullest and Mr. strange is just a perfect aid for that.
It is a feminist-themed single by Jenn Vix. She continues her fearlessly outspoken lyricism and hunger for musical experimentation as it fuses indie pop with trap music. Her voice gets deep and hoarse sounding like a loud whisper. It carries a sensual effect that captivates the audience. The sound is characterized by sub-bass, gritty, and super rhythmic snares. The song layers several monophonic ideas and melodic accompaniment.
Vix is a multi-instrumentalist, adept at bass, synth, and lead guitarist based in the USA. She has collaborated with legendary musicians like Reeves Gabrels, Andy Anderson, John Ashton and many more. Jenn has always been keen on the purposeful collision of sonic words and merging genres.
“Alone in the night, nothing felt right, then he arrived in a cardboard box. His plastic skin, sinking in… take me away from reality. Mr. Strange” envisages the need in her voice and how she forgets the real world and dives into the world of her desires. And the driving force is Mr. Strange who assists her to discover what lies beyond the boundaries of life.
