If you love Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder, you will find them earthing out on Munk Duane’s high vocals delivered swooningly. His latest single, “My Fellow Americans,” is a testament to his unique style and musical talent. The song is a perfect blend of vintage sounds from the 60s and 70s combined with modern R&B elements.
The voiceover in the beginning saying that we are destined for great things kind of adds a vintage or retro vibe to Duane’s song, as it seems like it’s directly cut from an old TV clip. Then we are introduced to a smooth bassline, setting the musical tone for the entire song. The funky drums and classic synth pads make the song highly grooveable. The chorus is a standout moment in the song that will get stuck in your head for days for its simple and groovy structure: “All my, All my fellow Americans/Get up.”
Munk Duane calls for Americans to unite and harmonize instead of dividing themselves. He believes there’s a dark force trying to oppose each other with agendas that serve no one but themselves. So he calls for unity with his groovy and memorable music.
The trumpet part in the bridge adds another layer of musical excellence to the already stellar track. Right after which, another voiceover comes up representing the news broadcasting on TV.
As the song builds towards the end, it reaches a fever pitch, with all the elements coming together in perfect harmony. The groovy track turns explosive in the end by climaxing all the instrumentals to an infectious jam. It seems, Munk Duane advertently kept the best for the last.
If you are an American, don’t miss out on this one!
