In a press statement promoting “Vampire,” Olivia claimed that she composed the song because she was “upset about a certain situation” and that when she went to the recording studio and sat down at the piano by herself in December, “the chords, melody, and lyrics just poured out” of her. A limited edition CD and 7″ pressing of “Vampire” are now available for pre-order. The song will also be released on vinyl. The new song’s first demo will be the backing track for both.
On social media earlier this year, Rodrigo started to tease her new musical era. She posted a photo to Instagram in May commemorating Sour’s second birthday. “The new stuff is so so so so close to being done, I pinky promise,” she indicated at the end of the post, which detailed how the album had altered her life.
On her Discord server at the end of 2022, she gave followers a unique gift by playing them a song titled “the bells.” When she was five years old, she penned the song and donated it to her followers as a part of the 12 Days of Livmas, a celebration of the holiday season.
