Plastic Storm by Mayura: Review
Mayura’s voice and the music in “Plastic Storm” is an absolute treat to my ears! It sends shivers down the spine as you relax to its relaxed beat and jazzy tones, making it sound like a crisp piece of production with raw energy. It is part of Mayura’s EP “Warrior,” which contains promising several numbers, where she brings jazz inspirations from her mother, Reggae and a hint of pop from Celine Dion and Britney Spears with her own sultry twist. The album is a dedication to Mother Nature, awareness about what affects the earth and is a true work of art.
The captivating Island-style number “Plastic Storm” features Marcus Gad, whose unique vocals sounds like a tribal chant. Apart from the title of the song, if you catch its music video, you can’t help but gain insight about the heaps of plastic waste disposal that affects our ecology.
The song fades into the distance as Mayura’s gentle voice echoes, pleading sincerely to humanity –
Humanity, Pick Up Your Trash.
Together Mayura and Marcus Gad use their platform to raise awareness about the ecology we live in, about being responsible with our actions to save the planet. I can’t believe I’ve been living under a rock! So while this was my first listen, it’s certainly not my last. Check out her album ‘Warrior’ to listen to all the other incredible songs just like ‘Plastic Storm.’
