Psychopath Cool by Chucky Trading Co : Review
Hailing from the Laurel Canyon neighborhood, Chucky Trading Co is the collaboration between singer-songwriter CS Taber and producer Evertt Young. At the tail end of 2021, the band dropped their debut album as a group. This year, they continue on their voyage into the music industry with the release of their new song “Psychopath Cool”, experimenting with a blend of folk, rock, a hint of bluegrass and soul as well.
Fresh from the oven, the song opens with a string-led, cinematic intro that sets the stage for the song’s dramatic atmosphere even before any lyrics are sung. And once the vocal smoothly glides on, the full band of piano, drums, and fiddle join in on the fun, and everything is tied together into a euphoric flow. Interestingly, “Psychopath Cool” also experiments with more contemporary sounds and inventive arrangements while retaining the band’s classic folk-rock roots in the process. The song depicts an erratic love story that bounces between two opposing sides of heaven and torture. It’s the kind of burning love that’s wild, difficult, and inescapable all at once.
Quotable lyrics:
“I stand and take it like a fool
And in an instant the storm has passed
Angel smile
You reach out and hold me like a child
And all I want is for your love to last”
The American band has only just begun to warm up, but they are already in fine form. Look no further if you like soulful melodies, magical hooks, and poetic lyricism. Stream it today, and you won’t regret it.
