โRed Eyeโ by YACOVELLI blasts into the stratosphere with the swagger of a jet-setting rockstar whoโs too cool for the cabin crew. This is neo-grunge at its most electric, dripping with cocky confidence and the kind of reckless energy that makes you want to stomp your boots on the nearest sticky venue floor.
Right from the get-go, those grinding riffs and deep, pulsing bass grab you by the collar and throw you straight into the mosh pit. Alex Yacovelliโs vocals cut through like a smirk in sound form, sharp, high, and dripping with self-assured bravado. He struts over the track, taunting and teasing with the kind of punk-rock sneer thatโs equal parts Cobain and early 2000s garage rock revival. The backing vocals add a thick, aggressive punch, making the whole thing feel like it was recorded in a basement gig where everyoneโs had one too many and the amps are about to blow.
Lyrically, โRed Eyeโ is a satire disguised as a flex. Itโs a mock anthem for the influencer-travel-bro lifestyle, where every city is just another aesthetic backdrop and turbulence is just an opportunity for a mid-flight selfie. Yacovelli brags about hopping red eyes, getting plastered in Paris, and living life like a โperfect holidayโ with all the irony of someone who knows exactly how ridiculous that all sounds. Itโs cheeky, itโs over-the-top, and it works because it leans all the way into its own chaos.
By the time the song climaxes with the captainโs deadpan warning about โextreme turbulence,โ YACOVELLI shows he isnโt here to play it safe. โRed Eyeโ is a full-throttle, no-seatbelt, cigarette-in-the-lavatory kind of rideโgritty, exhilarating, and impossible to ignore. Check it out on Spotify.
