Deflecting Ghosts strike hard and fast with their electrifying new single “Risen,” released October 17, 2025, a blistering burst of alternative metal grit that refuses to be ignored. The Hutchinson-based trio, led by vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Luke Fitzgerald, delivers a maelstrom in heavy riffs, soaring vocals, and raw emotion that captures the chaos of our modern age.
Recorded entirely in Fitzgerald’s home studio, “Risen” channels the same urgency and rebellion that defined the early 2000s alt-metal wave, while infusing it with a deep catharsis. Think Chevelle meets Breaking Benjamin, but with a grittier, homegrown edge.
The track kicks off with sizzling, distorted guitars that immediately light a fire under the listener. The riffs grind and pulse with mechanical precision, as the drums pound relentlessly beneath. Then the vocals cut through, low, tense, depressed with suppressed frustration, before rising into a soaring cry that feels like both a lament and a call to arms. There’s something deeply human about the way Fitzgerald sings, as if he’s standing at the edge of collapse but still holding the line.
Lyrically, “Risen” takes aim at complacency and moral decay, urging listeners to confront the world’s corruption and reclaim their own agency. He sings, “The end is drawing near, there is no time left to waste” and “The time has come, the ending has begun,” the sound almost prophetic, carried by the thunder of the drums and the bite of the guitar. Yet amid all that heaviness, there’s a sense of resolve — a flicker of light in the dark.
“Risen” isn’t just another heavy rock single — it’s a statement of endurance. It’s about breaking under pressure and standing up again, stronger than before. In a world gone mad, Deflecting Ghosts have found their anthem of survival, and it hits like a pulse straight to the chest.
